Controlling Surround with a USB-Joystick???

Hi there,

is it possible to control the surround-panners in logic Pro7 with USB-joystick, e.g. Logitech? What kind of system preferences do I have to change within Logic Pro to use this joystick?

Thanks,

Thore

Hi Thorge !
I was dealing with the same problem ... it is possible and written as improvements of version 7.01 : surround joysticks do work well.
it seems that you can set the surround pan in xy mode to work with a joystick.
but i didn't try yet. and which joystick will be compatible ?
if somebody tried something be kind to inform us
thanks and bye bye
Bruno

Here you go...

I haven't got a joystick so I haven't tried it. You'll probably have to do some fiddling aroung with either the controller assignments window or the enviornment to get the MIDI data to do what you want - but shouldn't be too tricky. Also be good for the morph function on Scultpure, and the Osc select triangle in ES2.

as Logic Pro 7.1 is supposed now to use these X-Y controls , I think it is possible.
I'm beginning with these midi controllers assignements on Logic Pro 7, as many others , this function is not so easy to understand in the Logic manual (as all Apple software manuals, dont you think so ?... you must allways search for infos in different directions, reread some fifty pages to , at the end, perhaps understand what you searched for...

well, i bought a logitech extreme 3D usb joystick and the steim junxion software.
junxion is transforming usb joystick messages in midi controls: that works very well and in a very easy way with all controllers, except with ..... the surround pan !
it seems impossible to send x and y messages to the surround pan in Logic, as when learning the midi controller assignation , the surround pan in logic only reacts as angle and diversity controls, but the logic pro 7.1 update infos do mention that surround joysticks do work well...
apple support does not accept to answer my question, as i bought logic more than six months now, (i think its a pity that apple bought logic , for this problem of support)
I asked steim support if they know how to do, i'm waiting for an answer...
anybody can contribute ?
