Macbook AIR and skype... get stucked !!!

Dear all,
I bought a macbook air few months ago in italy, here is what I noticed:
using many applications at the same time doesnt really give troubles to the laptop, although if I start a video call with skype, after a while the fan starts to work, the cpu temperature gets high untill the point that the AIR gets almost stucked and you cant do anything rather then close skype !!!

is that normal ? how is possible that the MPA cant handle a videoconf. with skype ?
any solutions/suggestions?
I am trying to understand if its my one, and I should give it back to repair, or its the machine that cant keep up with the job.

I have the same issue. Basically what happens is the CPU is overheating, and it shuts off one of its cores. This basically means that the Air is running at half speed, and the computer is not able to keep up with Skype's needs. I am taking my Air to be replaced because I don't believe a five minute skype video call should bring a machine to its knees.

I have a different problem using my MacBookAir.
Found it out triing to use Skype for the first time today.
My internal microphone does not work. I tried to configure it using system preferences.
But "Sound" input does not register anything.... any tips.

Are you sure that you have selected the correct input device under Skype Preferences>Audio?

Did you check what kind of resources the MBA was using at the time.
I read on other forums that some printers/scanners can use as much as 80% of your CPU.
My MBA does not have this problem at all. The only thing is my Mic does not work.

I have the same problem with my macbook air. Its really frustrating because 5 minutes into the call the sound stops working and everything freezes. The only thing to do is Force Quit Skype and start call again (but without video or it will just happen again).
I wish Skype or Apple would release a fix for this!
