External synth's,the environment, patch names and banks a quick question

I'm just trying to get all my hardware to work with logic with all there patch names and banks being able to be selected and controlled from Logic so what I see is what I get , I've been to lazy in the past to do this because it looked like a real pain as no midi editor/librian seem to work the way Opcode' Galaxy plus editors did i.e it just worked, I've now got Logic 8 so I thought let's get this thing set up how I real want it to work as I Pro DAW should be the control centre of the studio, now I'm setting up a Logic environment to control synth hardware banks, I've made a multichannel instrument and I put 2 banks of sounds which is as I've mentioned is a real pain as Sounddriver and Midiquest just don't cut the mustard and Logic's of typing them in just is a no go, find patch list's is also a pain as it' all very time consuming searching the net then if you find a PDF or text file editing all the other info out, any Galaxy plus editors which worked a dream haaaaaa the good old day's ( but Gibson put a stop to that for a tax dodge ) well anyway back to Logic which seems to be so un-elegant in working with external synths, I'm just not getting how to change banks in Logic I know it's "control 32" but do I have to make a keyboard short cut as there is no banks change menu in the inspector.
also I've set up the inputs of the synth using external plugin but there seems to be no patch change in the inspector as there would be on a normal midi channel, do I have set up a screenset that lets me see the midi instrument environment to be able to change them or is there a better way around this, any help would be appreciated.

Each multi-instrument can have it's own bank change format, and you set it in the same place as the patch names. There are a variety of common bank formats, or you can completely customise your own.

The external instrument plugin isn't really intended or best suited for multitimbral instruments, for a variety of reasons. It's really intended as a quick way for people that don't understand how to rig up MIDI instruments in Logic, but is limited in flexibility. I really recommend using regular environment objects assigned to tracks with direct monitoring on your interface, and if you need the hardware to come back into Logic, use input objects or input-monitored tracks.

SoundDiver works just fine to input patch names into multi-instruments.

Thanks Bee Jay for the swift reply, I was using the inputs channel strip in 7 but I believe that the external plugin works with PDC, which is a plus for me, also it works without having software monitoring on ( I', not sure what extra cpu usage is needed for that ) as when I record vox and guitars etc I use direct monitoring and outboard for processing, I also limit my self to the hardware synths outputs so if my hardware synth just has a stereo out I will use just one midi channel on that machine and use if in performance mode ( or what ever the manufacturers call it ) which usually means that you can use the best sounds on that machine, if the machine has 4 outputs then I only use up to 4 channels, so I can't see the mixer with my external plugins getting to cluttered, so will have to set up a screenset as a work around, as for changing banks I'm still unclear how that works I can see the define custom banks messages page but I'm just not real getting how to control the bank change from Logic. anyway I'm willing to look at setting up my Logic template anyway that will give me the best results and easiest working practice as I also patch in hardware effects using the i/o
maybe using external plugin for synths at the of the day doesn't matter as I will have to calculate latency for the i/o hardware effects.
