Google Maps - Traffic Flashing

When viewing traffic on google maps, sometimes the traffic indicator (red/yellow/green) flashes. What does this mean?

I've only seen yellow flash, and it always flashes. It seems to be an attribute of the color and does not carry any additional meaning.

Hey ransak,

+Red = less than 25 miles per hour+
+Yellow = 25–50 miles per hour+
+Green = more than 50 miles per hour+

Thanks for the responses. To clarify, I'm trying to figure out why the traffic indicator (almost always yellow) flashes, not the speed meaning of the indicator. Also, it has happened occasionally on the red indicator, but most of the time it is the yellow indicator that flashes. It does not flash all the time on my phone.
