If I compose a message then try to send, sometimes it won't be sent. I think this has to do with phone being connected to a wi fi network but the connection is not strong enough to allow mail to be sent but prevents the message from being sent via edge. so the message sits in the outbox on the iphone. how do I then send this message? there is no method for this, although I can "forward" the message instead. But, it's then not formatted properly because the text of the message shows up now as quoted text.
The message will be sent at some point depending on how your mail is set up and assuming there is a network connection present. It'll go the next time your mail program checks the server, or probably when you launch the mail program. If it seems reluctant you can always hit the refresh symbol (the curly arrow on the bottom left).
i have trouble sending email because i have barely any signal when i am in the building im in....i use aol and when the email doesnt go through, there usually an outbox that appears and i can click on that..but i think also(and i maybe wrong) but i think once the phone gets a strong signal it should automatically sent the email
that's not been what has happened. the messages (2 of them) are still sitting in my outbox unsent. I have both sent and received other messages in the interim.
While in the outbox, tap the little circular arrow in the lower left corner and the messages should send, provided you have either Edge or WiFi up and running.
Ijust had this same problem, outgoing messages weren't getting sent but put into an outbox instead. It had nothing to do with the signal strength. I also use aol and it was resolved when I went to aol.com and logged into the mail site and sent an e-mail from my computer. They challenged me with an "enter the image seen" before they would send anything. After that I haven't had another problem, althought that was just this morning!

I'm having the same issue with the emails sitting in the outbox for over a day. I'm receiving emails just fine but they won't go. I've turned the phone off, turned off wifi and bluetooth with no resolution.
Who is the email account provider for this email account?
Is any error message provided when a message is not sent?
Are you also accessing this email account with an email client on your Mac, such as with the Mail application and if so, any problems sending messages with this account with the email client on your Mac?
If you are accessing this account with the Mail application on your Mac, did you transfer the account settings from your Mac to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, or did you manually create the account on your iPhone?
Have you ever been able to send messages with this account using the iPhone's Mail client, or is this a recent development?
