Altiverb in 5.1 vs. CPU?

Hi:

If anyone's using Altiverb in 5.1 in Logic as an Audio Units effect, I'm curious how much it taxes the CPU; how many instances can you run, and at what reverb lengths?

I just setup a 2.7 GHZ G5 With Logic as a host for altiverbs.

Just to test it, 20 stereo Altiverbs put the CPU Usage at about 85%

All if the IR's were big hall programs 6 seconds or so.

Let me amend that.
Today I set it up in a different configuration and I could only get half of that.

The day I got 20 both CPUs were going strong.

All I did was set the Audio card to external wordclock and I couldn't get any activity on the second CPU.
It would max out the 1st CPU and start sputtering.

I tried a bypassed I/O plug in before the altiverb but that didin't do it.
I want both CPUs back..

Thanks for the input, Marty; it's just what I needed to know. What a strange concept that the second processor doesn't work when synced to external w/c. Good luck with that...
