electrical feel to laptop

I'm traveling and my MacBook Pro feels like an ungrounded electrical 'fuzz' on the computer next to the keyboard. I have it going into a surge protector, Apple support says no big deal, it won't hurt the computer. I don't like it and don't feel like it's any good for the computer. I've tried all sorts of three prong attachments to no avail. This is a new house and shouldn't have any electrical/ground problems.
Any suggestions?

Weird, since my MBP's power brick comes with a three-pronged plug at the end of its cable. However, I digress... If the computer "buzzes" when plugged and you lightly drag your hand across the metal surface, it is probably incorrectly grounded. Try flipping the two-pronged plug over and see if that helps. If you can't flip the plug over cause it is polarized (one prong wider than the other), then you need an electrician to correctly polarize the socket.

Major issue: is it safe for YOU ? Cardiac patients have been known to die from minute (well-placed) microshocks...

I used to notice this on my MBP... but I eventually convinced myself it wasn't actually anything electrical at all, just a slightly odd tactile sensation caused by the finish on the case, perhaps in conjunction with tiny vibrations from the fans (which are always running in a MBP). Indeed, since I added a clear film palmrest protector to my MBP (from applepeelz.com), I don't feel it at all any more.

It's not "normal" to feel a small electrical tingle from the laptop's metal case, but it's not that unusual, either. I had this much of the time I lived in London, mostly due to poor electrical systems. I have sometimes connected an alligator clip lead from the case to my metal desk or even to my wrist watch band to make sure the potential difference between me and the case was zero.

A good ground is supposed to be provided by one of the two prongs on the plug, but in some homes/offices the wiring just doesn't do a good job. It helps to use the three-prong plug to provide a separate (and routinely redundant) ground. But this also depends on the quality of the house wiring, and it may not fix the problem. If using a 3-prong plug doesn't solve your problem, then you may want to have the wiring checked. (You can buy a little thing from Radio Shack that has lights on it that help diagnose wiring problems.) There could be problems for other sensitive electronics you have.

The tingling is uncomfortable, but it's not dangerous.

I have had to re-wire some rooms in our house. Nonetheless, if I plug into one outlet and connect to a TV or modem connected to another outlet (one on a separate circuit) I sometimes get the tingling effect.
