try this [link|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1278?viewlocale=en_US]. Also, you don't need an admin password to reinstall leopard. simply boot from the install DVD (insert the DVD, reboot and hold "C" at the chime) and install.
that depends on the kind of install you do. If erase and install, then yes, if archive and install then no. also, reinstall only touches one drive - the one with your operating system. To do an archive and install follow these [instructions|http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120].
Lastly, it's always a good idea to have a working backup. any kind of install can go wrong in which case you WILL loose your data.
install DVd means the leopard install DVD. that's either restore disk 1 that came with your computer if your computer came with leopard or the leopard install disk that you used to install leopard if your computer came with an earlier OS.

And yet in at least two cases - activating Adobe Reader's new Leopard edition for Power PCs, and running Preferential Treatment, I've had no joy. Adobe Reader simply says, upon the admin account request, that the package cannot be installed. Preferential Treatment, upon submitting my admin password, claims it is NOT an admin password.

I can't install my printer driver, because I can't read the directions. Preview won't open pdf's at all, either.
Can't use the DVD Install disk, because it won't boot the Powerbook. NOR will it boot the service computers at the Apple Store (!!!), but it WILL boot my 20" iMac.
