Pray enlighten us how to insert and extract such an item on a *SLOT LOADING DRIVE* ?

I'd try different types/brand of CD, that is a factor for optical drives, perhaps sadly, though. If your optical drive can't write to any type of media, though, it may be hardware fault.

Insert it like any other DVD, it spins a few times then auto-ejects as it should ...

Oh, Aussie DVD cleaners must be a unique kind, because the ones I find over here have these tiny bristles that will not pass thru a 2mm slot....

That is my understanding of most DVD lens cleaners. They have filaments that make physical contact with lens and polish off dirt. I have to admit I'd be reluctant to risk one in my superdrive.

Not unique at all, they insert and eject fine 🙂

I too cant write ANY cd's or dvd's anymore. I must have written a total of six discs since I bought this thing about a year ago. this coupled with aweful batery problems has really ****** me off with Apple products lately.

Can't burn anything too - only had top case replaced two weeks ago, and getting increasingly fed up with the MacBook Pro. Fortunately I've still got the Powerbook as back up... three years old and no problems whatsoever - the MBP has been a totally inferior machine.

Just burned a DVD, and never been happier about it!!

Still getting this with media previously I had no problem burning on. Nobody else been able to solve this one?

Hi,

I had this problem and came across the most random solution ( http://forums.macosxhints.com/showthread.php?t=77414):

Open System Preferences.
Click on "International".
Under "Languages": Drag any of the other languages to the top, then drag English back to the top.
Set "Order for sorted lists" to English.
Set "Word Break" to English (United States, computer).
Close System Preferences.
Restart computer.

I don't have a clue why this works but it did for me (although some of the people in the forum hadn't had any luck trying this method).
