In 10.3.9 have you went into System Preferences > Security and on the lower half, is "Require a password to wake this computer from sleep or screen saver" Checked?Powerbook G4/15"/1.5 GHz/10.3.9; PowerBook G4/17"/1.67 GHz/10.4.11; PowerPC G3

Do you have "Automatically log in as:" ticked in your System Preferences>Accounts>Login Options?
Try unchecking this if you do not want the computer to automatically login at startup.

I didn't think about this n yes it's the little tick that makes the difference, I don't know why they did that it's useless.
