i think this is a problem unrelated to itunes, but basically my computer will not recognize blank cd-r's. i need to burn a cd from itunes, and i just get this "checking media" message until finally the disc is spit out.
I am getting the same problem and apparently it is a widespread problem. However I think it is related to iTunes (and let's hope that it is) because I can still burn CD's from my MBP and I can burn DVD's but iTunes simply won't recognize the CD-Rs.
I don't have any solutions but I am simply adding my voice to the call for help.
Yes...I am getting the same thing. I emember reading somewhere on here that it was a Fuji CD problem so I went and bought SONY discs. I'm getting the same problem as you all. It won't read a blank CD.
Could it be it was one of the numerous recent updates that have caused this?
Just spent a solid hour messing around with this issue. Go in the preferences menu of iTunes and make sure in the "burning" settings that you are burning to the actual drive, not a virtual. Mine, for some reason, was accessing one of my virtual drives that I use for recording my purchased music, then ripping back to my hard disk to get rid of DRM.
