Airport Scanning....AUGH

My laptop seems to always be scanning....I have a TC and don't understand why it does this...it makes working on the net or chatting difficult. How do I set the airport on the laptop to just access the TC via WiFi and stop scanning all the time?

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Just enable the network on your laptop. Enter any encryption info that was chosen on the TC.

This can be done in Network Preferences (on the Mac) or Control Panel - Network (on a PC).

I noticed this some time ago, and at first I thought it was a problem, too. But I've come to believe that this "Scanning" is just a normal ongoing function that was exposed on one of the fairly recent software/firmware updates. When the AP is scanning, it does not disconnect you from your wireless router...it's just looking for currently broadcasting networks in case you want to jump onto some other network.

I've noticed this as well. When it is scanning, the connection speed drops down considerably. I have two notebooks and the problem is much worse on my Air compared to my MacBook.
