I/O device error

I/O device error

Please help! When I plug my iPod mini 2G into my laptop it shows up under My Computer as a Removable drive. I can't explore it and get a message saying The drive is not accessible, "The request can not be performed because of an I/O device error". iTunes is also not picking up my iPod.

It could be a sign of hardware problem with the Hard Drive of your iPod.

Try to connect it with a Mac computer, and do a Restore there. Hope it helps.

By the way, have you tried to put your iPod into disk mode ?

I have seem to have resolved this issue. I couldn't even open my iPod as a device previously. Bought myself an Apple USB cable instead of the one I got with the iPod. Haven't had a problem since, iTunes launches when I plug my iPod in, sync and use it as a simple device. If all else fails, stick with genuine Apple products.
