The hint: how to download / export Picasa web album back to your Iphoto

Hi, recently I faced with a great moment when you get your hard drive crash and your Picasa web album brings a part of your life forces and nervous back:-) But the problem is - we don't have Picasa application on Mac OS and because of this we don't have a link 'Download an album' below an album title.

But here is the solution I've found and I want to share it with others and wish I can make this post sticky.

Well, you need 4 things:
1. FireFox browser - http://www.mozilla.com/firefox
2. Greasemonkey add-on - http://www.greasespot.net/
3. Greasemonkey script - http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/15418
4. DownThemAll addon

After installing the two add-ons, restarting the browser and adding the script, go to the album you want to download, click on the "Init Download Links" button from the top of the page, select DownThemAll/DownThemAll in the contextual menu and type "imgdl=1" in the Additional filters box.

Macbook Air, just kidding:-)) Just Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Thanks for the hint, ArtieD, and an excellent demonstration of the value of backing up.

However, there is a simpler way to do it, as suggested in this thread:

User Wilnix points out:

Copy the URL of the RSS feed from your picasaweb album.
In iPhoto goto>File>Subscribe to Photo Feed<
Paste the URL
iPhoto will copy the photos to your mac. </div>

I have read that Google will release a mac version this year, anyone know when?

NO!

this is an APPLE (not google) USER (not official) discussion forum - many people here can assist you with what Apple software does (and does not do) - it is not a place for Google support or for speculation on products - Apple or others
