Tascam US-2400 Soft LCD software released! A question?

Tascam has released a new firmware update for the US-2400 controller, and the Soft LCD software as well. This software gives you onscreen scribble strips with channel names I'm assuming.

I've been trying to decide between the US-2400 and a Mackie MCU. I have two questions.

1) In Channel Strip mode, will the US-2400 control the Linear Phase EQ in LP 7.1, or just the Channel EQ? I ask becuase the settings for Channel EQ and Linear Phase EQ are supposedly interchangeable, and the Linear Phase EQ in the Mixer window shows up like a Channel EQ in Logic.

2) Can a US-2400 owner please download the Soft LCD software and post a screenshot? It won't launch without a US-2400 connected, and Tascam doesn't have a screenshot on their website. I'd love to see what it looks like.

Maybe I'll bring my laptop down to Guitar Center and make them plug the US-2400 in.

Thanks. 🙂

Hi Towelle,

Just installed the firmware and soft LCD.

Have not been able to get the soft LCD to do anything yet..
(has anyone else gotten this thing to work?)

As to question #1 : yes, way cool, and displays eq parameters on all bands with leds.

2. As to screenshot, It is just a tranlucent blue bar that acts as a floater over Logic, and I presume it will display text when i get it running. Then maybe I'll do a screen shot.

FYI
I love this thing, 25 100mm fades beats 8 anyday.
everything works as promised.
Only thing missing is display which the soft LCD should give us.

Hope this helps,

Daniel

hiya new firmware looks like a good thing (always is !) but the soft lcd ....hmm....how can that be anybetter than seeing whats your mixer/arrange page?

anyways... i sold my us2400 for a mackie control Universal, and have used both with Logic and SX on mac and PC, long story short the MAckie blows the tascam out of the water....mainly because of its diplays and in depth control of everything... its just more professional, and well....useful. the tsacam is literally just 24 faders, and a transport section thats it....the mackie, deos too much to even go into but control EVERY part of your DAW.

I found myself 'trying' to use the tascam more often as i wasnt really touching it, since getting the mackie i use it instincyivley....it rocks.

just my opinion though so dont jump down my throat tascam owners !! ;-)(

hope this helps

Hi

A quick report on us 2400 firmware.. 1.3.1
and Soft LCD

Dont Do it!

Also Soft LCD is not working with logic either.

Spoke with Tascam, they suggest reverting to 1.2.0 firmware (still on the page) they are working on fix... (why dont they test this stuff?)

Otherwise, to disagree with post above a little,
us-2400
manages all fx sends/ EQ's with Q display,/ rec-enable/ group soloing/muting/in and out snap points/ fader flip for rotary controls

All works very intuitively and i could not live with just 8 faders...
for the $$$ Tascam beats 3 mackies or logic controls...

My 2 cents..

Daniel
