getting video files onto iMovie through popcorn 3 program

I have already converted video from mpeg 2 to m4v using popcorn3 and now I can't seem to import them into iMovie. Is there another step I am missing? right now the files are sitting in a "roxio converted items" folder. This all started because of incompatibility between our sony handycam and the new iMac.
