Standalone Digi CoreAudio Driver is here!!!

Ok, i don't normally use a lot of exclamation points and stuff like that... but this is big big news for all us poor Mbox owners...

There is finally a standalone Digidesign CoreAudio Driver Availabe!
http://www.digidesign.com/download/coreaudio/tiger/

Just in case you're having problems, according to the FAQ:

Q: How can you avoid distortion and audio sync errors when using Logic Audio with the Digidesign CoreAudio Driver?
A: In our testing, we found that Logic will not play audio properly through the CoreAudio driver until you go into the driver preferences, and manually reset the buffer size to another setting (it defaults to 512, and it can be switched back to 512, but it needs to be set to another value first). if you don't do this, Logic plays the file back with distortion and you will eventually get an audio sync error. Once you've manually changed the buffer size, this problem goes away.

Still getting Not Connected (HW in use) notice when I open the CoreAudio Manager.

You don't happen to have Pro Tools running at the time, do you ?

Actually, if you have Pro Tools installed at all, in Tiger, I doubt you should be using this driver.

Otherwise, try trashing AMS prefs (~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist )

You may want to try trashing this one too:
/Library/Preferences/com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist

This may be of interest to some.

I was going along swimmingly with the new DigiCoreAudio driver, not a problem, till I had to use MIDIPipe for something. Rebooted to see the MIDIPipe ports and immediately started getting CoreAudio errors.
I had my suspicions, so I looked in the MIDI drivers folder. And, sure enough, the DigiCoreAudio installer is still installing the Digi MIDI driver.
Deleted the MIDI driver and everything went back to normal.

Why do they have to do that (install a MIDI driver without asking)? I can't see the sense in it.
