PPP VPN Connection Issue...

Hallo Dear Networking Professionals!

I try to connect to PPP VPN with native Mac OS X 10.5.2 VPN Client. "Send all traffic over VPN connection" and "Use verbose logging" options are turned on as well as VPN Service taken first position in Network Services list. After 1 minute of connection it disconnects from server with the following log:

I have seen PPP session drop due to echo packets not getting a response. This is simple to fix with a standard modem PPP connection as there is an option to turn of echo replies.

I have not found that option the vpn advanced option.

Do you have the built in firewall enabled on your mac? If so turn it off and try the vpn connection again. It may be the stealth setting that is blocking the echo requests.

I figured out that my VPN server is Microsoft ISA. I contacted to the server administration and they stated that the server uses IPCP only and no DHCP is available for Microsoft ISA. They also reported that according to my log the Mac OS X VPN Client had obtained IP adress, but for some reason was waiting for a DHCP server response....

Any ideas about the way to turn off DHCP server responce request in the Mac OS X VPN Client?

I connect to Internet using ASUS WL300g Wi-Fi Access Point. Initially it was configured in the way that "Subnet Mask" parameter in "LAN IP Settings" section of native web configurator was "255.255.255.13".

*Once I've changed "Subnet Mask" parameter from "255.255.255.13" to "255.255.255.0" the problem resolved and now my PPTP VPN connection is working normally.*

Comment: when I change "Subnet Mask" parameter from "255.255.255.0" to any other value like "255.255.255.XXX" the issue occurs again.

I've figured out the sollution, but not reason...
Does anyone have any idea of why Mac OS X prefers "255.255.255.0" for "Subnet Mask", while Windows XP works normally regardless the "Subnet Mask" value?
