qmaterd - What is it?. How do you stop it?

Every time I start my Mac a process starts in the background: qmasterd, with command: /usr/sbin/qmasterd -child.
This process keeps busy the hard drive all the time with a mysterious write process. I can't see that the activity fills the hard drive with data but is annoying and unnecessary process as far I can see.
The only way to stop the process is to kill it in Activity Monitor, but it will restart next boot.
I'm not using Qmaster for sharing services and I reset Compressor and Batch Monitor, they has no visible queue.

Any idea how you control this process and what is it?

MacBook Pro 2.33, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 2GB DD2 SDRAM
