iPhone disconnects during synching

iPhone disconnects during synching

Out of the blue, my iPhone disconnects during synching. Each time is happens during the synch with contacts.

(I did add new contacts this morning. But I assume that my phone should support adding new contacts??)

Note: The error message says that the iPhone has disconnected, but it is still showing as being docked under 'Devices' in iTunes.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Hey klayon,

Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac Pro and not plugged into a keyboard, monitor, or mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1286

You can also try Resetting the Sync History in the iSync application preferences.

(I should add, the clearing synch history was what helped; I already had the phone synching directly to my laptop)

This started happening to me only after I got a new iMac w/ Leopard. No issues before on my old PowerBook on Tiger.

The reset iSync history worked for me to, but not permanently. I've found the problem pops back up about every 5th sync or so.

Perhaps something that iPhone 2.0 will fix?

I had the same issue. My iPhone would disconnect during syncing, particularly contacts. I have 4 different contact groups (personal, work, etc). I resolved this by plugging the USB directly into my laptop, then syncing only 'personal', which was successful. Then I synced 'personal' and 'work', also successful. All 4 finally synced when done one at a time. Hope this works for you.
