Appleshare IP 6.3.3

Hello. Does anyone have Appleshare IP 6.3.3? I would like to buy this and look at it and try to understand how it works. Since I am losing ground here and the person from shawcomputing.net is not getting back with me on how to obtain Mac OS X server 1.2v3(rhapsody 5.6), then I am going to concentrate my energies on trying to find this software: Appleshare IP 6.3.3

Power Macintosh G4 MDD 1.25DP System w/ 2MB L3 Cache/2GB PC2600U, Mac OS X (10.4.11), Apple 4.7GB DVD-RAM Drive/BenQ 16x Superdrive/Plextor 16x Superdrive

Goodness knows why you would want to concentrate your energies on finding and paying for obsolete software instead of getting something done with your computer, but you seem to be quite right that no store or auction site anywhere in the world is offering ASIP 6.3.3 for sale. Unfortunately, Apple Discussions isn't a "wanted to buy" ad site, and offering to buy or sell things here is prohibited by the TOU. So I suggest putting your "wanted to buy" ad up on several of the big-city craigslist.com sites and sitting back to wait…and wait…for responses. While you're waiting, maybe there's something useful you could do with your Mac using software that you already have.

Hi.. this is a piece of Apple history. And it wasn't too long ago that on the G4 sawtooths and Gigabit ethernet servers that this software came installed on them. I have heard so many good things about rhapsody and just wanted to see what it looks like in real time. Maybe appleshare ip is a bit overboard, but isn't this still available anyway on the server software 10.2.,10.3,10,4?

sorry for posting about wanting to buy.. I was just desperate and wanted to find someone who has this still(server 1.2v3).

Ok, I just got some good news. Someone has the server program 1.2 I am looking for. However, is there a way to download an update to update it to 1.2v3?
I am certain that on the G4 Server models Sawtooth and Gigabit ethernet that that was the actual program at the time for running as a server - pre mac OS X days.

That's funny. I thought this thread was about ASIP 6.3.3. You've got another one going about the other thing.

You habitually waste a lot of other people's time on these forums asking them to search for antique software that you could more quickly and efficiently search for yourself, with the same results that anyone else is likely to get. For software that Apple no longer makes available, Google is your friend.

The functionality provided by AppleShare IP was included in OSX Server.

Now, AppleShare IP v6 is something that does come up on eBay quite often. Make sure you get a valid serial with it.

It's also something you can attempt to run on your MDD. On the ASIP 6.3.3 support, it states only support for installation on OS 9.1, not OS9.2. To get it to install you're going to need a patcher:

http://www.os9forever.com/ASIP.html

There's lots of detail on this site about ASIP, and about other useful tools. But if you want a real serious read on abilities and functionality, scan the Apple website for Manuals on ASIP, perhaps in the older section.

If and when you do get it running you're going to see that it's no different to regular OS9, just an expensive tool for maintaining the file sharing ability, which you had in client OS9 anyway.
