Lets get things right !
You got to types of scanning in HD : One is INTERLACED(i) and the other is PROGRESSIVE(p).
All stuff that is in INTERLACE format can run at either : 25Fps, 29,97Fps or 30Fps.
INTERLACE mean that for each frame, you got 2 FIELDS (1 field is half a frame). So when you combine 2 Fields together you got a frame.
25Fps = 50 Fields per second
29,97Fps = 59.94Fields per second
30Fps = 60Fields per second
Considering these things you CANT have 1080i60 at 60 frames per second. In the interlace mode IT IS IMPOSSIBLE neither 59.94 frames per second. Its either 25Fps(PAL) 29.97 or 30Fps.
The thing that confuse peoples is that in PROGRESSIVE mode, the way to name the format change but is really similar of the way to name INTERLACE format.
Exemple : 720p60
In this case BECAUSE we are in PROGRESSIVE mode the number 60 doesnt represent FIELDS anymore but FRAMES.
So whatever the format you want to use in PROGRESSIVE mode, the number that come after 1080p or 720p MEAN FRAMES NOT FIELDS.
So in Progressive mode you can have :
60 FPS
59.94FPS
50FPS(PAL)
Dont forget those PROGRESSIVE name are not the same as the PsF names.
PsF mean : Progressive Segmented Frames
In this mode you DONT have either 60 Frame per second or 59.94
The frame rate you can have in PsF is :
23.98
24
25
29.97
30
Thats it ! So now you know.
