Custom drum loops in Garageband

if you are familiar with the program Fruity Loops, you know how you can create your own drum beat however you want it, and its fully customizable. i wanted to know if garageband is like this. instead of the loops they have, that are great and all. but i think if i had my own drum beats it would be more of my song.

if garageband isnt like this, is it posibble to import mp3's into garageband? so i can make drums on fruity loops, export them into mp3's, and then import them into garageband to record everything else.
