In Praise of the hockey puck mouse

I was using a dell mouse in place of my dead trackpad for my tangerine clamshell when I found a lime green hockey puck mouse at a yard sale for one dollar.
I love the hockey puck mouse. The color complements tangerine. It has a nice short cord that does not get in the way like the dell mouse did. I have small hands so the hockey puck mouse is the perfect shape! I read about hockey puck mice being the worst invention, but I disagree!

I like the hockey puck mouse. I don't know why. I guess firstly, I don't find any ergonomic errors with it and I think ball mouses are more reliable. I find that all optical mouses I've used (including Apple ones) seem to go crazy sometimes. Like every now and then, the cursor will fly up into one of the cursors and sometimes it will take a while to recover like it will fly around from corner to corner. Anyway, I don't like having so much lack of control on the optical mouses.

really, cant be as bad as when ball mice get clogged up with gunk and stop tracking properly. the old wireless optical logitec mouse i use has none of the faults you describe. its action is really smooth and accurate, on surfaces a ball mouse wouldnt work, is the proper shape to fit the hand and has extra programable buttons for volume etc too. plus it has a snazzy flashing red lazer 😉
