Attached JPGs are inbedded in Notes

It seems that no matter if I check the Windows Compatible box or not, my clients who are on NOTES always receive my JPGs as inbedded. And they can't detach them. This only happens with JPGs, not any other file type.

Is there a pref that I am missing?

I can't help I'm afraid - but I'm having the same problem.

I am sending JPG images attached in my MAIL email, to a Lotus NOTES account on a windows XP machine. The NOTES account picks up attachments in the usual way from everyone else but when I send them, they are detachable - only in the body of the email.

You might want to try the followng (suggestions from other threads) but I have tried them and it still doesn't work for me:
1. Click 'windows friendly attachments' box
2. Send as plain text
3. Contol click and change to icons

Desperate to resolve this as it's a pretty basic function: attaching a picture and send to a friend so they can download it. PC users are laughing at us!

Based upon my testing of this issue, it is because Mail (also Thunderbird) attachs with a header that includes that it is Inline. Lotus Notes cannot render these correctly, and Notes developers are aware of the issue, and perhaps the latest version handle, but I do not know.

The irony is that they can Forward these messages to others not using Lotus Notes, and the message will still be in good order.

If you zip the JPEGs in folder, then I think the images will get through OK, but they will have to unzip the folder.

I have had this problem sending jpg files using Mail to a Windows computer at work where we are obliged to use Lotus Notes 7.

I tried most of the the suggested fixes at the Mail end:
* Windows friendly attachments
* Place attachments at end
* Plain text
* View as icon
But none of these seem to make any difference.

However, I just discovered that you can fix it by changing a Preference at the Lotus end:
File >
Preferences >
User Preferences >
Basics >
Additional Options >
Show in-line MIME images as attachments

Those embedded images seem now to show up as 'standard' attachments and you can right-click and save them in the ordinary way
