Blue Snowball--great microphone--except it does not read in Logic 8. I've set up preferences on my G4 and it reads, i.e., shows up as an external device. This does not happen in Logic 8. I've tried **** near everything. When I create a new audio track, it doesn't show up. Works in Garage Band however. I've poured over the Logic 8 manual (page 273) and it says it should just plug and play. No luck. Any ideas from a Snowball user with Logic 8 would be greatly appreciated.
1. In system OSX: in the Apple menu, open SYSTEM PREFERENCES.
2. Double-click the SOUND preference file.
3. Click on the INPUT tab.
4. Double click BLUE USB BALL MIC under CHOOSE A DEVICE FOR SOUND INPUT dialog box.
5. Set input volume to the appropriate level. The mic is sensitive and may require a very low volume setting.
6. Exit SYSTEM PREFERENCES.
And what about an aggregate device? Other USB mics makers says to act in this way....
The only way to use it in conjunction with Logic is by setting it up as part of an aggregate device. I set one up like that and it showed up as a 2 channel input device…
The key is setting up the aggregate device correctly, it has to have 2 ins and 2 outs in the top field. You have to check off use snowball AND use built in output. Logic will then recognize the aggregate device.
