Korg R3

okay i got korg r3 synthesizer and i pluged it into my macbook pro via usb MIDI. it came with a sound editor that works great so i know the computer reads it. but in garageband whenever i plug it in and create a new midi track i play it and it can only use the built in sounds of garageband, but i just want record with the sound that come with the R3 and when i play it the same noise comes out of my mac.It reads it like its just a usb keyboard that will only work if plugged into garageband. i tried recording a real instrument track but there is a bad fussy noise. i just want to make a song using the sounds of the R3.
