missing thai letters in character palette

in the display of character palette, there are some thai letters missing (unicode 0020 0E34 to 0E3A, thai vowels i, ue). instead of showing characters, there are empty squares, saying that this glyph is not available. the characters appear on the keyboard layout, though. there are no problems in using thai fonts, everything is present in any application. it is just in character palette that these characters are missing. the problem occurs both on my g5 and my g4 (both 10.4.11 - problem also occurred in previous versions). any ideas how to solve this? thanx!

I can't duplicate this problem. Is your Character Palette set to View = code tables, tab = Unicode? If you select 0E34, what does it show in the Character Info box and say just to the right of it? What appears in the Font Variation pane below that (Collections: Containing selected character)?

hi tom, thanx for getting back to me.

the problem appears only in view 'all characters'. when switching to 'code tables', the characters appear. on switching back, they disappear. strange - same unicode, different behaviour.

selecting the letter in view 'all characters' results in the info box saying 'glyph not available in this font' (in german of course). font variation is empty. in 'code tables' letters are present, including variations.

remark: the problem only appears for 4 letters (4 thai vowels i, ii, ue, ueue), all unicode settings etc work fine. i know it's weird...

I can duplicate what you see in All Characters mode.

It's not really the same Unicode. Character Palette in All Characters mode says those locations are Unicode 0020 0E34 etc, but that is totally wrong, since Unicode numbers don't go that high. It should read just 0E34 or 0000 0E34. It must be a bug in Tiger's Character Palette.
