I am using a Sony XDCAM EX, Final Cut Pro 6.0.3, and Quicktime Version 7.4.5 on Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.2.
I have the camera connected to my iMac (Intel) via USB and am attempting to import footage into FCP using the XDCAM Transfer Software by Sony (Version 2.7), when I start the XDCAM Transfer software a window appears "Installed Components" it says I am missing a codec "XDCAM EX codecs" - as a result the clip META data loads and shows yet I cannot preview the clips or import them.
I do not understand how this is possible as all of my software is up to date? Is there a way of adding the XDCAM EX codec to FCP manually??
Any help would be much appreciated as I currently have a camera that is useless and an editing system that won't work.
the EX codecs are part of the Apple HDV codec components bundle ... what version do you have? the file is found at /Library/QuickTime/AppleHDVCodec.component go there, select it and press Cmd-I (Get Info...). you should be at 1.4 (v218)
