M-Audio Enigma... Any Help?

Hi Guys,

I've got an M-Audio Ozonic and am told to get Enigma up and running for interaction with Logic. I've installed Enigma, but even after going through the help file.. I'm none the wiser as how to get it configured with Logic or what it will do for me exactly. Anyone out there with any help?

Thanks,

Mike.

you can use enigma as an interface for your m-audio controller. that way you can edit it and configure it how you like and then save the settings to be recalled anytime you want.

I haven't really had that much success with it because i am using old style midi via rs422 modem serial port, rather than usb.

you still need to set up logic's environment so that the controller messages are read by the objects correctly. what to do is create an instrumtent and a monitor and check the midi messages that you can create with the keyboard. these then need to be passed to the correct instrument. you may need to assign the channels on your controoler correctly and then use a channel splitter in the environment to run into the audio objects.

Not in Logic 7. Controller Assignment is the way to go.

Set up the MIDI controller whatever way you like, and then use controller assignment to use the controller like Logic Control.

You'll need to learn the Logic Control system, but it is the most flexible solution, and you can get LC XView to emulate the LC screen. ( http://www.opuslocus.com/lcxview/ )

What are you trying to get your Ozonic to do with Enigma/Logic?

That's what I'm not sure of.. what will Enigma do for me?

Say I'm switching between to different instruments (ES1, ES2), and I want to use the same controls on my Ozonic to control functions on both instruments. If I'm using ES1 and then switch over to ES2, do I quickly upload the patch for ES2 and then my Ozonic starts controlling that??

Hope that makes sense,

Mike.

No. You can leave the Ozonic as it is and use the methods described in the Logic Control documentation to address whatever parameters you wish to automate.

(of course, that assumes you have set up your controller assignments in Logic in the first place.)

Ahhh cool, where is the required reading for this?

Mainly in the Control Surface support section of the Logic Pro 7 Reference and the Logic Control section of the Logic Pro Control Surface Support manual, but for more clarity, you can look for a tutorial at the forum linked from the LC XView site which puts the functions in more practical terms.
