Can't log on?

I have two accounts on my MBP - one for work and one that's personal. My work account logon page goes gray occasionally when I type in my password, and then locks up. This happened the other night and after 15 or so attempts over an hour or so, it finally let me in. Now it's happening again. Any suggestions?
