Hard Drive has died and gone to heaven

The hard drive on my old PC has died and gone to heaven. Where do I find step by step instructions on how to get up and running again?
I have my original installation disk, How do I get new iTunes on this, my new machine, and get the iPod to link up without loosing all the info that is already on it. I have all the music files that were on my old hard drive, I just want to know how to get them talking again. Any help gratefully recieved, I am without music at the moment!!!
