Upgrade Logic Pro 6 to 6.4.3

Question

Upgrade Logic Pro 6 to 6.4.3

I am buying Logic Pro 6 to stay in sync with my keyboard players setup (until he can upgrade) and then want to go up to 6.4.3. There was a place on the eMagic site to upgrade to 6.4.3 but it's gone now. Any idea where to go to get that upgrade now? Also, I currently have OS X 10.2.8 - will that be high enough to handle 6.4.3 or do I need to go up to 10.3? If so, where do I get that and what's the highest sub level I can go up to and still use it with 6.4.3?

You can download 6.4.3 from here. You will be fine on 10.2, but you can go to 10.3 with no problems (and the performance increase from that comes with 10.3 is well worth it, in my opinion). 6.4.3 should work fine all the way up to 10.3.9.

It does work in 10.4, but there is a bug that causes Logic to crash if you change the metronome settings. There is a work-around for this problem mentioned in this thread:

Thanks for the info. I see the 6.4.3.dmg file there - how do I 'run' it to upgrade my existing copy of logic 6 or is there something in the logic pro app that lets me install the upgrade (I haven't got the software yet)? Also, do you know where I can go to get 10.3.9?

A DMG file is a disk image. After downloading it, double-click on the image and it will mount the virtual disk. On that disk is the Logic Pro 6.4.3 installer package. Just run that and it will update what it needs to.

As for finding 10.3, there are probably many places online that sell it. The first place I could think of was Other World Computing which has it for $48 US.

Thanks for that info. I finally installed Logic, upgraded to 6.4.3 and went to OS X 10.3.9. In the Logic installation guide it says in 3.2.1 Demo Songs Installation to copy the "Demo Songs" folder from the CD onto my hard disk. I don't see this anywhere on the 3 disks that came with the product and I trust the seller that those are all the disks he got. Could the manual be out of sync with the product or ??

I forgot to ask. I'm using 6.4 to stay in step with my keyboard player who has 6.4.1 - I now have 6.4.3. What differences/upgrades/etc. occurred between the two releases?
