Does iPhone stop music during phone calls?

I've been told that when an iPhone is interfaced with a car adapter such as this one: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-Rp98xY4kq03/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?i=113IP200&s =0&cc=01

...that it does not interrupt the music to take the phone call. Can anyone confirm this? If that is the case, does anyone know if the 3G phone will address that issue in the next release?

i have an alpine system with bluetooth and ipod functions in my car....when music is playing and a call comes in, the music pauses. after you are done with the call, the music resumes where it left off...

now if you have to remove the phone from the cable to talk, that maybe a different story, im not sure about that

as for that product, crutchfield.com has a "ask a rep" kinda deal where you can ask questions on line with a live rep...i would ask them about that product

I can't speak for this cable, but when I have my iPhone plugged into Microsoft SYNC in my Focus the music fades out, pauses and then the call comes in. When the call is done, the music fades back in. I would assume it would be the same. If you plug your iPhone in and then tap the iPod icon you should see Accessory Attached, which would be indicative of the fade out / in behavior.

I can speak to this part, While using the 30 pin connector with power and audio feed, If you're listening to music in the car and you get a call, the music fades down, pauses, you'll hear the ringtone over the speakers, you can't hear the caller on the car speakers, but over bluetooth you can just fine, when you're done with the call the music resumes perfectly.

Here comes the annoying part, lets say you get to your destination and you unplug your cable and continue your conversation on speaker phone with the group that you're running late to the meeting with, you finally get to the meeting room and hit end on your iphone, you music fades back in. This is VERY annoying.

Apple needs to make note at the time the call is received what is carrying the audio (built in speaker, headphones, audio feed from 30 pin connector) and when the call is disconnected determine where the audio is going to be played and if it's not the same as prior to the call just pause the song or add a yes/no "would you like to continue playing music on the (built in speaker, headphones, audio feed from 30 pin connector)?"

My 2 Cents as this happens quite often to me, even if you expect it to happen there is little time to stop the music before it startles everyone. (hope you weren't listening to something vulgar!)

this is hugely frustrating to me. I work in an environment which requires constant quiet. I listen to my iPhone all day during work. I use plain 'ole noise cancelling headphones. If a call comes in, music/audiobook stops, I hear phone ring, I diconnect headphones and run out the room to answer call. My iPhone is set to silent. I end call, head back into room, BAM, music/audiobook blares out of my speaker. Very poor design flaw, IMO. My phone is set to silent, I'm listening to headphones for goodness sake!
