Internal Instrument - no audible play back

I have a quick question:

I have an internal/software instrument track. I enable the record and can hear it. I record my midi data via an external control keyboard. I go to listen to the midi data I recorded onto that track but now no audio is generated by the internal/software instrument track.

What is up?
