AirPort gone crazy after 10.5.3

Hi guys,

yesterday I had the opportunity to upgrade my brand new iMac 24" to MacOS X 10.5.3.
Until then my AirPort coverage was perfect, no kind of troubles at all, but after the update the wifi coverage goes up and down every 2/3 minutes making me mad.

Anyone else in the same condition?

iMac & MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.3)

Agreed. I'm going to re-install 10.5 from the DVD and see if that solves it. I can't exclude the possibility that by airport card wanted to die at the same time the 10.5.3 upgrade was install, but that seems unlikely. And, since airport always works after turning it off and on again I suspect this is a software issue.

One has to wonder if Apple is getting lazy...

I have exactly the same symptoms (gradual decline in signal strength, which returns to 100% after turning airport off and on), using an Apple Airport beacon. It all began after the 10.5.3 update. I have tried removing my DNS servers, changing channels, moving the antenna etc etc - in fact, the whole kaboodle I had to go through with 10.5.2 before something eventually worked. Now I'm doing it again. Come on Apple - let's see some signs of a) acknowledging there's a problem and b) doing something to fix it. Everything on my system is Apple - there's no third party kit involved here.

I've had this problem too (new 24in iMac, fine until I isntalled 10.5.3, then it would lose connection (strangely whilst still showing that it was connected) every few hours).

After a lot of trial and error, this has fixed it for me - I set my airport basestation to a single channel (9) rather than allowing it to assign automatically, and enabled interference robustness on the basestation.

So far, this has kept a stable connection for two days now (previously I'd be lucky with two hours).

Hope this helps

Nick
