Good morning! I am going to buy an iMac [3.06 GHz] pretty soon, but I will likely be travelling back and forth with it between New York and Japan. Given that AppleCare supposedly has "global repair coverage," does it matter whether I buy the computer in the US or Japan (that is, whether I buy an Apple US AppleCare program or an Apple Japan AppleCare program)?
It won't matter much as far as AppleCare is concerned, though Apple recommends that you purchase AppleCare in your home country. It will matter where you purchase the computer as regards the language of the keyboard and documentation, but not as regards warranty.
We bought our macbook from United states while living there, then moved to Turkey and needed to take the computer to the service while it was still under warranty. There was no problems, no paper work, no asking for proof of warranty. They just sent our computers info to Usa and confirmed its still under warranty , then repaired it for free.
