Motorola KRZR K1(t) is not supported by iSync

I got a new Motorola KRZR K1 this week and tried to sync it with my mac. Bluetooth pairing, sending and receiving pictures were successful. But in iSync I get the message "This device is not supported by iSync" although this phone is listed as supported.

I had this problem before in February with another KRZR K1 (which is now dead). I read a post on "Jeff Raven(?)'s website", changed the package contents of iSync and eventually got it to "work" (there were still a few error messages).
According to Apple some "issues" with iSync were fixed with Mac OS X 10.5.3, so you could imagine with such trepidation I started Software Update.

Alas, it still doesn't work. OnSync (which shows the model as K1t) loads my telephone numbers but iCal ......

Could someone from Apple who reads this please point me in the right of the solution? Or do I have to edit the package contents myself?

iMac 24", Mac OS X (10.5.3)

Sounds like we are in the same boat. My KRZR is with Altell & it & the previous KRZR & RAZR worked flawless in Tiger on a PB17". My bluetooths pics and music work without a hitch.
I guess i'm going to have to design my own iSync plug-in for this phone .I have seen a few sites with info to create one. My biggest concern is knowing just enough to get in trouble when it comes to the inner workings of a mac.

I have a buyer for my 17"PB but i'm holding on till among other things ,like iSync comes on line & CS3 stabilizes. I know it's just some inconvience till all (most) is well with Leopard.
It's all small potatoes compared to say VISTAH problems...just google that..holy cow!

Well, I got iSync to work after editing the package contents.

There's a utility called PhoneInspector (from www.novamedia.de) which tells you what type of mobile you have. In my case, it's a :

+CGMM: "GSM900","GSM1800","GSM1900","GSM850","MODEL=K1t"

Read www.jeffcraven.com/archives/2006/10/motorola krzrk.html to find the file to edit and take a backup/copy.

I deleted everything which wasn't a Motorola razor model, but left the "com.motorola.switch/usb...." type parameters.

Then I changed :
- the dictionary key :
<key>com.motorola.razorK1m</key> to <key>com.motorola.K1t</key>

- the 4 strings (<string>Motorola CE, Copyright 2000+K1m</string>) for K1t

- ModelName string from "RAZR K1m" to "K1t".

Save and iSync should work.

There are several types of K1 phones; I don't know the differences (K1t, K1m, K1c) between them but I do know that Apple doesn't support them all.

I hope you got your phone isync'd.

Really? The issue is your carrier and it's choice of mobile handset features and identification - choices made in conjunction with the manufacturer of the unit. It's not Apple. And Apple very clearly states on the page listing iSync supported devices:

Not all phones work in all geographies. Check with your carrier before ordering a phone.

Not that I have ever met a carrier representative who has a clue about iSync or could reasonably answer any question about Mac OS X synchronization… I'm just sayin' that this is a carrier problem. And, it is. And, Verizon and Alltel are the largest offenders in this regard.

My opinion was based on KRZR K1m being listed as supported in the Apple list without a footnote about Alltel whatsoever. I will concede the cellphone industry is a nasty bunch with there tricks. I was with Verizon & had a V710 with crippled bluetooth a few years back.

That being said Leopard does have a part here since the phone worked in Tiger on my Powerbook, if we are gonna have a chicken or egg purchase scenario here.
Really?

I guess I'll have to try and figure out how to write my own plug-in .
