Printing 'Handouts' from Keynote

I'm trying to print out handouts from keynote presentations consisting of upwards of 50 or 60 slides.

I've found out how to do this, By selecting 'keynote' from the print options dialog I can choose to print handouts with 2,3,4,5, or 6 slides per page. This lets me keep the page count down (nice to save paper, eh).

I have a problem, though. The pages of the handout, in preview and when it prints, have the right number of slides, but have them all running down the left side of the page, with a vast, blank space to the right. If I put six slides per page, each slide image is about 1 inch high and there is probably five inches of blank space to the right.

Is there a way to adjust the printing format of a presentation so that six slides per page print in two colums of three? That way each image would be large enough to read easily and there wouldn't be so much wasted space on the page.

Every week I print out handouts for 4 or 5 presentations, each in the 150-250 slide range from Keynote Presentations. First I export to powerpoint, then from powerpoint, I print handouts at 9 slides per page. Once a presentation is finished printing, I stick it back in the printer and reprint on top of the same slides with pages numbers (actually underneath each slide). I generate the numbers from a word document.

I have been looking at finding a way to automate this process, click one button and it would export to powerpoint, export 9 slide per page handouts as a pdf file, then take it into photoshop and place slde numbers then print it out for me.

Does anyone know how to get "black and white" output for handouts?

Click on the third drop-down list that says "Copies & Pages" on the Print window. One of the options will be for or will have options for color output. What this item in the drop-down list is called varies depending on the printer installed. For my HP printer, the menu item is "ColorSync". There are not all that many items on this drop-down list, so if nothing seems to have the right name, explore. Once you find the right option, you can change the output from Color to Grayscale or Black & White (there may also be other options as well).

Matt,

I think you can do this from Keynote.

Print your presentation (command-P). In the print dialog window open the third drop-down list. Select "Layout" and set the "Pages per Sheet" to "9". Then select "Keynote" from the drop-down list. On the right side under "Options" check "Include Slide number". Then send the result either to preview (for testing) or to printer.

I admit that the slide numbers are tiny compared to the slide. You could use your method to add the slide numbers in a second run, but at least you can avoid the export to powerpoint.
