*"i honestly dont know the difference between male and female"*
Think about it for a second. You're serious right? Think about the private parts of both men and woman and make an analogy between those and the video cables
I won't get into the male/female thing. However, I don't think you have to worry. Unless you are buying some "special" DVI cable, all the ones I've seen are the same with the same connector on each end (similar to at VGA cable which are also the same.)
ahh righty okay, thanks for the quick replys, one final question, i understand ill need a male dvi d to connect to the apples extension and then the final dvi to plug into the tv. BUT what if the tv has a vga port, then where do i stand, do i need to purchase another cable for mini dvi to vga and buy extensions?
The mini DVI to DVI adapter and the mini DVI to VGA adapter are just that, they're only adapters. they are not "cables". You'll still need to supply the cable to connect between the TV and your computer's adapter.
If your display/TV has a VGA port, then you'll need to buy the mini DVI to VGA adapter and a VGA cable.
