Iphone to Pioneer deh 7900?

Hi!
I have recently bought an Pioneer deh 7900 car sterio. When I am trying to connect my Iphone to it to play music from it, the pioneer dosnt find it, it just keeps saying " format read" and nothing is hapening, exept that the iphone is charging. The sterio shuld be ipod connecteble through the USB port. Whats wrong? do I need a CD-I200 cable to control my iphone? shudent it just go and go through the USB port and in to the iphone whith an regular ipod/iphone cable?

I did a little bit of research on [Pioneer's website|http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Products/CarAudioVideo/DIN/DEH-P 7900BT] for that stereo, and it does say:

Attention current and future iPod owners: iPod control is now built-in your Pioneer receiver - once connected to the CD-I200 cable (not included), you can control your iPod through the headunit and even view album, artist, and other music info on its display.

So it does sound like you need that cable, but you would want to contact Pioneer for more information.

Yes, it should.
I have a different pioneer head unit, and all i did was connect the included USB cable to the unit, and then connect the USB end of the sync cable to the Unit's USB cable, and the other end to the 30 pin connector. Works fine. i can then control the iphone's ipod from there.

so long as you have an extra sync cable, you shouldnt need that CD-I200 cable, cuz they are pretty much the same thing.

Did you do something special whith youre Iphone? Did you put it in airplaine-mode or something like that to make it work? Did it show something special in the iphone when it connected to the sterio other than the battery symbol?

that "airplane mode" message popped up, but i just tapped no. the phone looks the same if not in the ipod. if you're in the ipod, its a "special" screen, saying that an accessory is attached. meaning you dont control the ipod from the phone itself but from the stereo.

I have now been in touch with pioneer and the problem is that my sterio dosnt support ipods and iphones newer than august 2007 and forward =/
Maybe anyone here know if a upgrade in the bios can help something like this in the sterio?
