Can anyone tell me where Mail normally stores it's files? I want to manually back mine up but can't find them. The files I find in my HD > Users > myname > Documents > Mail are not current and are not the files I'm looking for.

Thanks.

they are stored in Users/username/Library/Mail. However, there should normally be no need to change anything in this directory by hand. what are you trying to do?

P.S. you should be aware that this is a leopard forum (10.5) and you seem to be running Tiger (10.4).

    Sorry, off by 0.1!

    you are welcome!
If you are backing up mail in this way, you should also back up the file

    /Users/username/Library/Preferences/com.apple.mail.plist

It contains all Mail preferences. restoring this file and mail directory will bring mail back to the exact state it was at the backup time.
also, quit Mail before backing it up like this.
