Well, I had no problem burning audio CD's with iTunes before at full speed using Maxell blank CD's however, I tried to burn an audio CD today, but it created 2 coasters. It will start the process OK and burn songs and then stall towards the end throwing up an error and cancelling the burn.

Tried a new blank CD and burned using Ashampoo Burning Studio and it worked fine at Max burning speed (UP TO 48x) with no errors. So fault must lie in iTunes?
Note: these songs where NOT purchased from iTunes, but from IMPORTED mp3's I had on my PC.

Is Apple ever going to fix this problem. I must have discarded 10 CDs last week trying to troubleshoot my system....which burns CDs just fine on other programs. Itunes, however, starts burning at what seems a snail's pace and then, halfway through, ejects the CD and gives me unknown error (4251 I think..not gonna waste any more CDs to confirm this).

Is there another software program I can install which will let me burn the mp4 format that itunes uses???

I am having some of the same burning problems (pun intended) as others have written about, but with a twist. The burn seems to go fine, if somewhat more slowly than before 7.6.2.9. But, it appears not to complete in that the new CD doesn't show up in iTunes and Windows (Vista) Explorer won't read it either. After creating a couple of what I thought were coasters, I decided to try one on a non-computer CD players (car and boombox). They played just fine. So, it looks like iTunes is not finishing it job properly to make the CDs readable on computers, but "dumber" players don't care.

Apparently, these various burning problems are wide-spread, but Apple doesn't seem to be responding.

I can sympathize with you. I too am equally frustrated yet I have just gotten my Macbook to burn a cd through iTunes. I don't know if it will work for you, and to me it is still unacceptable as a long term solution, but here's what I did. In iTunes preference menu under Advanced/burning I changed the burn speed to 12x and turned off the sound check and the "Include cd text" options. It took a little while but it worked. I will continue to pester Apple until this situation is amended.

Best of Luck,

Each time I try to burna a CD I get a message that says "...is a iTunes store file and cannot be burned to an MP3CD. iTunes store files cannot be burned to an MP3CD." Why not? Have the rules been changed? If not, how do I convert these files to the format which can be burned to MP3?

Is anyone else getting this message? There is no error message number. I don't even know how to contact iTunes for help. When I click support I can find anything but a feedback link. I sent a message, but I am sure it won't help me.

Did anyone get an answer to this?
