error message: QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -43

Hello,
I recently borrowed a friends video camera to record a few 3-minute clips. In order to import the clips from the camera into my computer, I had to use software called "ImageMixer 3 for Panasonic". It would not allow me to import directly into iMovie as I have been able to do with other video cameras.

In any case, the clips are now on my computer and I would like to import the clips into iMovie so that I can edit them and paste them together into one movie. When I try to import, I get the error message "QuickTime couldn't parse it".

Can anyone help me? I used to have software on a previous computer that allowed me to parse video clips out in smaller files. However, I no longer have that computer.

I am using a Mac Pro Dual 2.66 running on OS10.4.11. I have iMovie HD 6.0 .

My video clips are now in my "Movies" folder and are approximately 225MB in size and are MPEG files.

Thank you for your help!! :-}

Hello Karsten
Thank you very much for this information. I have downloaded the software you spoke of. I won't get a chance to try it out until later tonight. However, thank you VERY much for your help.

One other question, will this software also allow me to download a video from YouTube and convert it so that I can bring it into iMovie?

Thank you!!

I searched in Google for "QuickTime couldn’t parse it: -2048" and found this thread.

I was trying to improt a YouTube video into iMovie that I had downloaded via the activity monitor in Safari. I was puzzled as to why I couldn't import a YouTube file today when it had worked yesterday.

I then realised that I had not amended the file extension on the download to .flv - hope that this helps someone.
