Update 10.5.3 Validation Problem

I downloaded update 10.5.3 to the OS X Leopard on my MacBook this evening but, after being prompted to allow a restart, I got the message that the download could not be validated.

I have genuine Apple software on a MacBook that is less than 6 months old.

Anyone else had this problem or know how to solve it ?

I would just manually download the file from Apple's site, then run it.

Delta updater (requires 10.5.2):

Combo updater (any version of 10.5):

People will often recommend that you download the combo updater. It's a good troubleshooting step if your OS X installation is exhibiting unusual behaviour (I understand you're not saying that's the case here). But it's a good choice nonetheless.

Same problem on a G4 Mac Mini. Most common support suggestion is "The RAM is not up to spec. Switch it out." Well, a brand new stick of Kingston RAM made no difference. Have also seen "Turn off Internet Sharing." Solved a similar problem for three other installers (slightly different wording on the errors for them), but not for the 10.5.3 combo updater.

Clean 10.5 install on a wiped hard drive made absolutely no difference. Suggestions?
