ELP! keyboard problem still persists....

I don't know how many out there still have this problem

But for me, the missing first keystroke is still present after the 10.5.3 update and all the keyboard updates

It happens when the keyboard stays idle for about a minute and avoids the first key pressed afterwards

At least this was better than before when 2 or 3 or even complete words would be missing.

Now it's just one key.

Is there any more fixes I can try or does Apple think this problem is already solved?

17" 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.2)

In my last inquiry to AppleCare I was told the keyboard issue has been resolved and it is a HARDWARE issue NOT a software issue. They were suppose to exchange my KB for a new one but forgot. I also had display problems and when they exchanged it for a new display they left some connection loose.... and the cr@p Apple repairs continue.

A replacement MBP is on its way due to so many issues with the last repair.

I will report back when the new one arrives... fingers crossed it really is a hardware issue and it has been resolved.

I dont know what to tell you. I dont know if it is an official announcement. One day I called level 2 and was told it was software. The next day I called with another question and mentioned the kb issue and was put on hold twice and was then told it was a hardware issue???

I doubt very much that an official announcement will ever be made as the cost of replacing ALL the MBP kbs would be insanely expensive.

All I can do is update once I get the new MBP from China.

good luck all.
p.s. keep complaining. Talk to Customer Relations or write a note to Steve Jobs.

Got the replacement MacBookPro4,1 2.5 GHz

As far as I can tell in using it over the past two days is that the keyboard issues I was experiencing have been resolved on this specific machine.

I do not get any missing keystrokes, if I hit the key on the corners or edge the key responds. I am pretty happy.

One thing I have noticed is that there is a definite LAG. I have the wireless Apple keyboard and there is no lag but using the MBP keyboard there is a lag. It is very noticeable & if you look at the screen to watch your typing it is distracting.

ELP! keyboard problem still persists....
