iPhone Volume Control Problems

The volume control rocker switch on the side of the phone seems to have a problem. The slightest touch to the 'down' side and volume goes to zero. I even have times where I am depressing the 'up' side but not actually increasing volume because the untouched down side is decreasing volume. Has anyone experienced this before? Do you have any suggestions on how to resolve?

I have seen a couple of people with this issue. Make appt at Apple Store (1-800-MY-IPHONE) and if they witness the problem, they will swap out for a new or refurbished phone.

Try a hard reset and restore. If neither help, contact Apple and get it serviced.

1-800-MY-IPHONE

Hard Reset: Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down simultaneously at least 6 seconds (don't use red slider) until the unit shuts off. Then restart.

Same problem here. None of the suggested fixes work. Until I get repair service masking tape across the volume toggle at least slows down the descent to no volume.

same problem here. volume is very often decreasing to zero simply when typing or tapping on the housing.

I just had the problem of the volume decreasing to zero, despite all attempts to increase the vol, it still went back to zero quickly. I powered down and it seemed to fix but this is not sure fire as it is only a one time situation.

I am having the same problem. Cant figure out where it is coming from, appears to be random. Have you called apple?

has their been a fix to this or...?

It soo annoying having it randomly just go higher and lower in volume

plus my silent/ringer switch doesn't even get TOUCHED and it goes back and forth from silent to loud and sinc ei have one of them set to vibrate it just keeps vibrating in my pocket.
