IPHONE beeping while charging.

I had my IPHONE on the charger dock, I received 2 text messages...it made the normal new text sound but then started to beep 2 or 3 times a second... I took the phone off the dock checked messages and was still beeping. No calendar reminder or alarm was set...the beeping wouldn't stop until i turned off the phone. Any suggestions?

Reboot the phone. Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons for about 8 seconds, until the Apple logo appears. DON'T let go when you see "slide to power off", keep holding.

I rebooted the phone and it stopped......im just wondering why it was beeping like that in the first place?

My guess is an obscure bug caused by an interaction between 2 applications that was not anticipated by the programmers. If it happens again then further investivation is called for.
