How to change default printing dpi

When I try to print any job in my Lexmark X3350 All-in-one printer, it takes a very, very long time to finish... Searching in Apple forums, I found this answer that akes a lot of sense...

"The problem lies in that the default printer resolution in the MacOS setup is 1200 DPI, which causes the printer to have to re-rasterize and slow down. The solution is to change the resolution to 600 DPI and save as the default setup. This problem is recurrent in both Tiger and Leopard, using either the included PPD's or downloading the newest from Lexmark "

But my problem now is that I can't find where this default printer resolution is set... Any suggestions?.
