iPhone error (1619) Please be nice and help:) Thanks!!!

My iPhone is in recovery mode. I plugged my iphone into my iMac and then iTunes opened and a pop up opened and said

"An ipod has been detected, but it could not be identified properly. Plesase disconnect and reconnect the ipod, then try again. An unknown error occurred (1619)."

1. Its an iphone, not an ipod. 2. I reconnected it over and over, but the same pop up occurs. My iphone is still in recovery mode. How can I get my iphone out of recovery mode or get it to just connect to itunes? Please be nice and hep me. Thanks!!! Any info you could give me would be much appreciated.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.4.11), none

Just had the same problem, and spoken to Apple tech support.

The advice was to plug the iPhone into a different USB port (has to be USB 2.0), fire up iTunes and then plug in the iPhone. This time it worked, the iPhone was recognised. From this point, select the device on the left window pane, and then click the "Restore" button in the main pane.

The firmware restore took about 10 minutes. Just leave the phone plugged in until the main pane asks whether to set it up as a new iPhone or restore from the backup...

Thanks to the efficient Tech Support guy, but the iTunes/iPhone software should be a bit more robust, and warn if there are any known USB port incompatibilities...

I am having the same problem and I have reinstalled itunes and changed all USB ports and nothing is helping. I'm running windows vista.

Sometimes I get error 1619 and sometimes I get a message from Windows telling me the USB device has malfunctioned, other times I get a message from windows saying that the USB driver has not installed successfully.

I was trying to restore my iphone and wipe all the data from it, now its displaying the connect to itunes picture but my computer wont let it!

Please help! I don't know what to do, I've only just got the iphone from a friend who upgraded and now I have a dead phone!

iPhone error (1619) Please be nice and help:) Thanks!!!
